iq-check is entertainment. It is not administered or reviewed by a psychologist, is not normed against any real population, and does not measure intelligence in any clinically meaningful sense.
What the number actually is
The estimate is a deliberately transparent piece of arithmetic: a writing sample is scored for vocabulary and sentence complexity, that score is converted to a z-score, and it is multiplied by r — an assumed correlation with real tested IQ that is shown to you and that you can change with a slider. The confidence interval widens as r falls. None of this is a validated psychometric instrument; it is the honest math for a weak signal, presented as such.
What it cannot see
Writing samples are crystallized output — practiced, revisable, untimed. Real reasoning tests measure something different: novel problem-solving under time pressure, working memory, processing speed. A polished paragraph says little about any of those. Any future features that suggest careers, education paths, hobbies, or certifications from a score carry the same caveat: for fun, not guidance.
